- Why was I born?
- For what purpose was I created?
- What should I give my life to?
- What is life all about?
- What brings real joy and contentment to life?
These questions are at the core of everything for which we are searching. Your answers to these questions will direct what you do each day with the life God has given you. For instance, if you say power and wealth bring joy and contentment, you will spend your life pursuing power and wealth. If you say that you were born to be wild, you will spend your life looking for every party you can get to.
If you struggle with these questions and you are not satisfied with your answers, you are normal. It seems most people have never really settled the issue of why they were born -- they simply go from day to day with no real direction or purpose to their life. They are sluggish and apathetic about life. They wake up each morning and say to themselves, "Why even bother getting up?" They have no real reason to get out of bed. I bless the day I discovered the reason to get up each morning, the day I settled the issue of why I exist.
The Bible teaches us that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior,
God freely gives us eternal life.
You will live forever, and
this eternal life starts today, not
some day in the future. This eternal life is for a singular purpose
-- that we may know God personally.
The Bible teaches that God loves you
and wants you to know
him personally,
but we are separated from God and his love. The Bible says that
people are separated from God because of our sins.![]()
God created us to know him and love him. But humanity chose to go its own way and its relationship with God was broken. This attitude and its results are what the Bible calls sin. This separation caused by sin creates severe problems.
Sin causes us to miss God's very best for our life.![]()
Sin causes us to have to face God's judgment.![]()
![]()
Jesus Christ died and conquered death for you.
We deserve death and judgment, but Jesus took upon himself the
punishment of our sins, so that we could have a personal relationship
with God.![]()
Jesus is the way to God.
Now this is good news!
Still, it is not enough just to know this...
Each of us must receive Jesus Christ by faith if we want to know
God.![]()
- Acknowledge your need -- admitting you have sinned and desiring
to turn from that sin.
- Believing Jesus Christ died in your place and rose again to be
your Savior -- providing forgiveness of your sins.
- Choosing to invite Christ to direct your life.
If you desire to have a personal relationship with God, you can express it through a simple prayer like this...
Dear Lord, I want to know You personally. I am willing, with your help, to turn from my sins. Thank you for sending Jesus who died in my place and rose again to by my Savior. Come into my life and lead me.
If you have prayed this prayer just drop me a line. I would love to chat with you about the decision you have made. Just write me a note at pastor@sciocommunity.org.
