In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:1-3

At Christmas, we tend to look upon the Christ-child as a helpless babe. But this is the Truth upon which our entire faith is founded: Before the world was ever created, Christ was. Jesus the Babe of Bethlehem is the very God whose power co-created the moon and the stars.  Jesus of Nazareth is the very God whose power hung the sun in its orbit.  Jesus Christ who hung on the cross is the very God who blew on the dust of the earth, creating the first man.  Jesus is fully God – the King of heaven and earth.

Although Jesus Christ was born 2000 years ago in Bethlehem of Judea, he has fully existed forever with God the Father.  He is the very God through whom all creation was made.  This is the very heart of the Christian Gospel: The One who came as a baby was always the Great I Am.

As we think about the future, whether on a personal or global level, how does it feel to know that Christ “is before all things, and in Him all things hold together?”  (Colossians 1:15-17)

The Consistency of the Gospel

Jesus Holds All Things Together

He has always been (John 8:58)He always will be (Isaiah 44:6)
He created the world (John 1:3)He will restore the world (2 Peter 3:10)
He is the author of our faith (Titus 3:5He is the finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)
He came to save us (Matthew 1:21He will come again to deliver us (Hebrews 9:28)
