Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” Job 2:10

When we’re going through difficult times, it’s easy to question God, especially when we don’t understand.  How many questions have come up in your heart…or perhaps you’re struggling with now.  Be of good courage. Did you know that there are more than two hundred questions in the book of Job?  Almost every chapter is filled with questions, and many of them are by Job himself, who was described in chapter 1 verse 8 where God says, he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”  His first question, however, demonstrated how his faith survived the darkness:  Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”

Jesus warned us that we will face troubles in this world, but we are to be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world and all its troubles (John 16:33).  And He does all things well and works all things for good (Romans 8:28).

You see, God doesn’t mind if we question and wonder because He knows we have finite minds and cannot see all the He can, but we are to trust Him.  That’s where a lot of believers get themselves into trouble because they are not patient, they lose heart, their faith falters and they decide they need to take care of things on their own.

Often times, we can’t understand what God is doing in our own or someone else’s life or why.  Yet Christ is working in deep areas of our life beyond human eyesight and also in deep patterns of providential circumstances.  When we can’t answer “Why?,” we can certainly remember “Who.”  We can place our full trust in the Sovereign God who is always in control.

A man by the name of Octavious Winslow once wrote;  Faith is the conquering grace; that is what gives the victory; this is what crushes this tremendous foe…How does faith overcome the world?  By leading the believer to the cross of Jesus.
